  • Ground Beef, 2 lb (lean)
  • Onions, 2, fine dice
  • Garlic Cloves, 15, thinly sliced
  • Ginger, 1”, grated
  • Black pepper, 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt, 2-3 tsp
  • Red Chili Flakes, 1 tsp
  • Chili Oil or Veg Oil, 2 tbsp
  • Orange, 1 zested and juiced
  • Rice Wine/Mirin, 1/4 cup
  • Oyster Sauce, 3-4 tbsp
  • Green Onions/Scallions, 2 cups, diced
  • Coconut or Brown Sugar, 2 tbsp
  • Sesame Seeds, 1 tbsp
  • Optionally top with crushed peanuts and a squeeze of lime juice

Mix the beef.

  • In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly the ground beef with the onions, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper. Set aside.

Heat the oil.

  • In a wok or large skillet, heat the oil on medium high heat. Once hot, add the red chili flakes to season the oil.

Cook the beef.

  • Add in the ground beef and keep it moving in the pan on high heat so that it nicely browns the beef. Drain any excess fat as needed. (Keeping a little fat is good for flavor).
Now add the remaining ingredients and continue to cook on high heat and frequently mixing until the moisture/liquids evaporates and coats the beef.

Garnish and serve.

  • Garnish with crushed peanuts and fresh lime juice. Serve with cauliflower rice, salad green, make tacos - it's extremely versatile.

You can use any ground meat or seafood for this dish.
